Ocala, FL (October 18, 2019)– During the Tuesday, October 15, NonProfit Business Council meeting, Gentle Carousel Miniature Therapy Horses received $1,000 from the Community Foundation for Ocala Marion County’s One Passion at a Time social media contest. The contest ran from October 1 through October 10 and offered Facebook users the opportunity to name the nonprofit they are most passionate about that serves Marion County. As comments came in on the video posted to the Community Foundation Facebook page @OcalaFoundation, Gentle Carousel prevailed with the most mentions. Throughout the contest, the video received more than 3,300 comments representing 100 different nonprofits in Marion County. The video also had 625 shares and more than 11,000 engagements according to Facebook analytics.
“We were overwhelmed by the response to this contest,” said Lauren Deiorio, Executive Director of the Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County. “We are grateful to our two anonymous donors who wanted to do something unique to show the significant community impact our nonprofits have. Gentle Carousel works with so many of our other nonprofits, so they are a great example of a community collaborator, too. It was just great all around.” For official rules from the contest visit OcalaFoundation.org/socialmediacontest
