Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County Welcomes New Staff Member
Ashley Wheeler-Gerds Joins Community Foundation as Director of Strategic Engagement
Ocala, FL (January 5, 2022) – The Community Foundation for Ocala / Marion County is pleased to welcome Ashley Wheeler-Gerds to their team as the Director of Strategic Engagement.
Born and raised in Central Florida, Ashley brings a wealth of experience as a successful marketer in the region. She began her career in 2009 as a Senior Account Executive and Marketing Director in the college/professional sports industry, working for companies such as IMG College Sports, The Colonnade Group, The Masters Tournament, and ESPN. Ashley also serves as an executive board member and team host for the ESPN Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl held annually in Tampa, Florida.
Most recently, she has been the General Manager of the Paddock Mall and Gaitway Plaza in Ocala. Ashley’s previous experience in philanthropy includes leading multiple chartable efforts, raising more than $100,000 for nonprofit organizations in Ocala and Marion County.
The Director of Strategic Engagement works with local nonprofit organizations and various pillars in the community. Ashley will lead the team in engaging individuals, businesses, & grantors by encouraging them to partner with the Community Foundation and support the Foundation’s vision to enhance the quality of life for everyone in Marion County.
The Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County is Building a Stronger Community…One Passion at a Time. Programs include the NonProfit Business Council, the Estate Planning Council, and the new Nonprofit Resource Center in partnership with Marion County, the City of Ocala, the Marion County Hospital District and Advent Health.
