The Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County is pleased to share the following news release sent by Cox Communications. The Foundation provides leadership to more than 80 nonprofits in Marion County.
Cox Communications announced today that it will award more than $95,000 to nonprofits in its three-state, Southeast Region through Cox Charities, which is funded by employees. The company is accepting applications for Community Investments Grants at www.coxcharitiesser.org through Friday, September 28. Community Investment Grants are designed to assist 501(c)(3) organizations with programs benefitting Cox Communications service areas. Agencies can apply for grants up to $5,000.
Branded under the theme “Give Where You Live,” Cox Charities is a unique, employee-giving campaign that launched in 2015 in Cox’s Southeast Region, which includes: Acadiana, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Florida’s Gulf Coast, Central Florida and Middle Georgia. Further, dollars raised in each market stay in the market in which they were generated. Funds raised by local, Central Florida employees will benefit programs in Cox-serviceable areas within Marion and Alachua counties.
“Cox Charities is not only funded but is also guided by employees thanks to enthusiastic employee advisory councils in each of our six markets,” said Kevin Monroe, market vice president for Cox in Central Florida. “These employees determine how each dollar is invested and are passionate about supporting programs that positively impact where we do business.”
Cox Charities was created to strengthen Cox communities by supporting programs in the areas of education, technology, social issues, conservation and the arts. Funds are distributed annually in the form of Community Investment Grants and Innovation in Education Grants. The Innovation in Education Grants Cycle occurs in the spring of each year; in 2018, employees donated more than $55,000 to local schools for their upcoming 2018-2019 school year.
