Angelica G. Muns Nursing Scholarships are Awarded in Fall and Spring Semesters.
Ocala, FL., (February 15, 2021) The Community Foundation for Ocala/Marion County recently awarded $24,000 for the 2021 spring semester from the Angelica G. Muns Nursing Scholarship fund. A total of 12 students were awarded $2,000 each.
Since 2016, the Community Foundation has administered the Angelica G. Muns Nursing Scholarship. Mrs. Muns was a registered nurse and U.S. Airforce Lt. Colonel who served during World War II. She and her husband received excellent healthcare in Marion County and established the scholarship to give aspiring students interested in staying in Marion County to work in community acute healthcare facility the opportunity to pursue a nursing career.
Students must be enrolled in a certified nursing program in Marion County pursing a RN or BSN nursing degree and maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the duration of their schooling.
Six students from the College of Central Florida receiving scholarships are: Ashley Broughton, Xiomara Coffman, Dominique Gandiongco, Madisyn Ann Leeds, Ashlyn Lucas, and Deanna McDaniels.
Another five scholarship recipients attend Rasmussen University: Wendy Bennett, Austin Putzeys, Kathryn Rochlin, Kiana Santiago, and Collette Waltz.
The final recipient, Sha’Tara Webster, attends Taylor College.
By administering the Muns Nursing Scholarship, the Community Foundation enhances its mission to connect the charitable interest of donors to build a strong community. Additional programs include the NonProfit Business Council, the Estate Planning Council, and the Nonprofit Resource Center in partnership with the City of Ocala, the Marion County Hospital District and AdventHealth Ocala.
